Take a Walk Through Holy Week! Special Cross-generational Event
April 1st at 9:15a.m.

On Palm/Passion Sunday, our Sunday School Classes will take a special journey through the events and meaning of Holy Week. All are invited to join in this special event. We will begin with the shouts of "Hosanna!" of Palm Sunday, and journey through the final hours before Jesus' death on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend with their children. We will begin in the chapel and have a special Palm Sunday procession, before breaking into smaller groups for the other activities. This is a special event you don't want to miss!

Please note, there is a Pancake Feed sponsored by the Boy Scouts in the Fellowship Hall. Consider having pancakes earlier or later—what a great morning for worship, learning and fun as a family!

Healing in the Holy Land: Augusta Victoria Hospital

What would you do if you or someone you loved were sick and needed medical attention, but you could not get to a hospital? For many living in the Holy Land, this is a real concern. Sick Palestinian patients often are not allowed through Israeli checkpoints to get to the Lutheran World Federation's Augusta Victoria Hospital oh the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. So, skilled Palestinian health care staff bring equipment into surrounding villages to provide urgently needed care.

In the case of Jameleh, a 12 year-old Palestinian Muslim, getting to the hospital is important. It keeps her alive. She has been given medication for years, but now needs kidney dialysis and ultimately a kidney transplant. Three times a week she treks to Augusta Victoria for hours of dialysis treatment. To get there, she must pass through a series of military checkpoints. A hospital document explains her condition. Sometimes the soldiers accept it and let her pass through; sometimes they don't.

Augusta Victoria Hospital is one of several ministries of the Lutheran World Federation. It is one of the few health care facilities in the Holy Land that provides quality medical care to Palestinians, but it is in need of financial support. To this end, the Global Mission Committee is coordinating a special offering opportunity for our Easter celebration. In addition to purchasing flowers for the Easter garden in our worship space, we have the chance to give to this worthy cause and work for healing in the Holy Land.

A little money goes a long way:

We will offer a special presentation on the ministry of The Augusta Victoria Hospital on Sunday, March 25th at 9:30 a.m. Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause. Envelopes will be available in the church office and in the narthex on Sundays. Thank you for your generosity.

Sunday School Key Verse

Here is the verse for March 4th:

"God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith will have eternal life and never really die." (John 3:16)

Here is the verse for March 11th, 18th, and 25th:

Jesus replied, "I promise that today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

Please help our children learn these verses each month. Grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, friends, mom, and dad can all share in helping our children grow in faith! Remember: Youth & Family Ministry begins with "adult renewal"!

Global Warming

A week doesn't go by without hearing some news about global warming. Public awareness and concern has grown considerably. The members of OSLC are aware and concerned as well and are looking for information and solutions. As God's children we take stewardship of the earth seriously. The Stewardship committee is hosting a movie on global warming with discussion to follow on Sunday, April 22 in the evening. So mark your calendar now and plan on attending to learn more and discover ways, we as individuals, may participate in the fight against global warming. Please feel free to invite others to come, it is open to all.

OSLC Women

Thank you to all who helped with our display at the Time and Talent Fair Sunday.

The women continue with quilting each Monday at 9 a.m. and crafts each Tuesday at 9 a.m. Please cheek out these activities and see if there is something you would like to help do.

Our next feature kit for LWR will be layettes. We have precut items for you to take home and sew. Instructions are included. If interested call Sue at 263-4748 or Pam at 262-1443. Items needing to be sewn are t-shirts, gowns, sleepers and small jackets. If you knit or crochet, infant sweaters in size 3-6 month up to size 2 would be welcomed. Also needed are bath size bars of Ivory soap. Other items in the layette are receiving blankets, diaper pins, and wash cloths. From Gerber company we can order 76 cards with 4 diaper pins each for a cost of $55.00. A contribution has been made to cover the cost of the pins. It is about a $20.00 savings over buying them at a local store.

We will welcome all scraps, leftovers, whatever of polar fleece and cotton knit fabric. Also baby yarn is used by our sweater knitters. If you know of someone wanting to get rid of any or all of their fabric we will find a way through quilting and kits to help them use it to warm others and dress babies. Please bring them to the door of room 14 in the Sunday wing, top floor.

Project Honduras is going well locally and in the synod. The Lutheran, our church publication, has an article in the March magazine about this project. T-shirts size large and x-large are used for this project. Each shirt can generate one diaper and up to four wash cloths.

Thursday, March 22, is the Laurentian Conference Spring Gathering. It will be held at Faith United in Iron. Please plan to attend . The penny focus offering taken will be given to the Family Resource Center in Virginia.

The Baby Shower/Brunch was a great success. We received 23 quilts, 37 receiving blankets, 23 washcloths, 5 afghans, 3 books, 5 snow suits, 25 hats, 1 bonnet, 2 bath sets, 9 prs. socks, 3 sweaters, 6 diapers, 38 sleepers, 31 onesies, 4 pairs pants, 2 bibs, and 4 outfits. Thank you Hope and Love Circles.

In Christ,
Blessings and Prayers,
Sue Schock, OSLCW President

March is Food Share Month

25 million pounds—that is a lot, especially when you are talking about food. That is this year's goal for the statewide Minnesota Food Share- March Food Drive. Our Savior's is a participant along with many other churches and organizations. The food and money raised during the March Food Drive every year is responsible for more than half of the food distributed at food shelves in the state of Minnesota. 25 million pounds for the 25th year of existence. P

lease remember that food donations are always welcome but money goes much farther because the food shelf can buy much more. Last year 3.9 million pounds and 4.9 million dollars was raised statewide. The $4.9 million converted to 20 million pounds. This may seem like an astronomical goal but everyONE can help. Our grocery cart will be located in the narthex every Sunday during March—please drop off your food donations or make a check to Minnesota Food Share or drop cash into the coffee can.

Easter Garden

Once again we plan to have an Easter garden beautifying our sanctuary Easter Sunday. You may place an order for spring flowers and/ or contribute to The Augusta Victoria Hospital using the envelopes available in the office and narthex beginning Sunday, March 11th.  Flowers available this year are:
