"A day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."
Psalms 84:10
Our Savior's came to life as the result of the efforts of the Rev. E. B. Slettedahl in 1893. For his work among Norwegian immigrants, he was knighted by the King of Norway. At first people met in homes, and many responsibilities fell to the lay people to get the church going in these early years. In 1922 a building was purchased from the Methodists by the 87 people who made up the membership at Our Savior's.
In 1924 the congregation called Rev. Harald Farseth as their resident pastor. Through his leadership and the dedication and enthusiasm of the laity, the church grew. He was called to other duties in 1944.
Pastor J. T. Stolee accepted the call to Our Savior's in 1944 and served until 1970. The position of assistant pastor was added and several filled the post during these years. A new church was completed in 1954.
Pastor John Degelau succeeded Pastor Stolee in 1971 and was senior pastor until his retirement in 1992. Pastor Erik Holleque began as associate pastor in 1986. Pastor Lyle Rossing came as senior pastor in 1993. Pastors Rossing and Holleque continue to serve Our Savior's.
God has blessed Our Savior's with strength in numbers and resources, including especially gifts of the Spirit for up building the people of God. Members serve the congregation, community, and larger church in many ways.
Thanks be to God.
