Congregational Care & Life is the heart beat of the congregation.

Many of these activities have a great history of care and concern for members of OSLC.  The committee is newly formed bringing many of these activities under one umbrella.  If you are interested in serving on this committee or help in one of the aspects of the ministry, please let your intentions known.

  • We have "shepherding" groups which are small clusters that meet periodically to develop relationships within the membership.

  • The prayer ministry has regular prayer vigils, prayer shawls and a prayer chain.

  • Home communion is offered to our members who are home bound as well as a telecare ministry.

  • Recognition dinners are lovingly prepared and served for our graduates, teachers and confirmands.

  • New member assimilation is of utmost importance to OSLC.

  • Sunday morning coffee fellowship time is an opportunity to visit with old and new friends.

  • The annual church cook-out in the park is a great summer activity to bring families together for good food and fellowship.

  • The Health ministry keeps us current with health issues and an annual blood drive.

Worship opportunities abound at OSLC.

During the summer months:

  • Traditional worship service on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. with Holy Communion celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

Communion helpers, ushers, lectors, choir and special music are areas of opportunity for persons to volunteer to use their talents.  During the Holiday seasons the opportunity to worship at OSLC is enriched with special services and traditions

Education is a life long pursuit to continue studying the scriptures.

  • OSLC library is centrally located for adults, children, and families to utilize whenever the church building is open.

  • The Sunday School hour is 9:15 and offers grades 1-6 a new format.  The children will rotate on a monthly basis between four stations: Creation Station, Bible Adventures, Apostle’s Theater and Holy Word Cinema. The other age groups continue to study in a traditional format.

  • The adults have opportunity to study various topics during this hour as well as mid-week studies that are offered periodically through out the year.

  • MOMS is a study and support group that meets Sunday between worship services and Wednesday morning at 10:00.

The Parish Education Committee meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Property provides a long range plan and the work to maintain the Church building and grounds.

Members assist in preparing for the future as well as maintaining the on going day to day property needs. The committee coordinates improvements projects and provides operation and maintenance direction.  We keep track of building equipment and furniture.  The property committee is made up of many volunteers with a plethora of skills and talents.  There are always new challenges and a need for new talent on the property committee.  We welcome members to this committee, don’t be shy about volunteering, just let the office know and we ’ll give you a call when your help is needed.

Social Action / Hunger Committee raises awareness and money for social and hunger.

We participate in an offering of letters to our congressmen and representatives in the fall.  We hold four hunger Sundays a year.  We also maintain a church food shelf and provide special food boxes during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  We provide hunger facts for the Sunday bulletin and a monthly article for the church newsletter "The Voice".  This committee meets on the first Thursday of each month in the church lounge. We welcome anyone who would like to join this effort.

Global Mission encourages involvement in God’s mission at Our Savior’s and in the World.

The Global Mission committee of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church was formed in 1991. We support and keep in touch with our missionaries. Our current missionary family is Dr. Stephen and Bethany Friberg, serving in Tanzania .  We also arrange for a guest speaker on mission Sunday during the Epiphany season.  We promote the Global Mission Event through the offering of scholarships and attendance.  We provide mission education for our Sunday School classes.

We are always looking for new ways to tell the story of God’s mission and welcome members to our committee.  We meet the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.

Youth & Family Ministry encourages a life long spiritual journey.

Youth & Family is all about "AAA" Adults (Authentic, Affirming, Available). Everyone needs to take part and spiritually guide our children in their faith journeys by establishing meaningful relationships, family rituals and traditions, a family devotional life, and cross-generational service to others that convey the beliefs, values, and lifestyles of our homes.  God wants us to share the Good News with others and to allow the Holy Spirit to work within and through us.

Families are encouraged to worship together on Sundays.  We have a fully staffed nursery available.  Sunday School begins at 9:15 (September-May) and there is coffee fellowship and various studies for mom and dad too.  Watch for Family Learning and Sharing Events through out the year.   All are welcome, invite a friend!

Youth activities include:

  • Halleluiah Chorus, Mondays at 6:00 4th, 5th, and 6th grade (Sept-May).  As the name implies, the focus of this group is music--but it is much more than that. This group also plays games, and socializes.

  • Young Fishermen, Mondays at 7:15 for grades 7th, 8th and 9th (Sept-May). This name implies the main activity is fishing, but the name really comes from the Lord's invitation to come and be fishers of men and women. The group meets weekly in the evening. There are games, socializing and fellowship.

  • Cherub Choir - Made up of Our Savior's youngest singers, pre-kindergarten through third grade, the Cherub Choir meets weekly to practice singing. Occasionally these youngsters sing for the congregation, and always give the worship service a lift.
  • Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry -  The youth of Our Savior's are very involved in the programs at two Bible camps--Camp Vermilion and Camp Hiawatha. Groups attend retreats and camp at these facilities all year long. In addition, canoe trips are planned every summer. These activities all have one goal--growth in faith, life and service to our Lord.
  • Confirmation Confirmation is a pastoral and education ministry of the church which helps the baptized child, through Word and Sacrament, identify more deeply with the Christian Community and participate more fully in its mission. Confirmation training is begun in the 3rd grade and continues until the student is confirmed in the 11th grade.
  • Sunday School Sunday School is available to all the children and youth of the community, from preschool through high school.

Other various Youth and Family Ministries:

  • Jr. Hi Shepherding Groups
  • Sr. Hi Shepherding Groups

  • Library

  • Multi-Purpose Room/Game Room

  • Confirmation (beginning in 3rd grade)
  • Voyageur’s Lutheran Camping Ministry
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Church Choir

Stewardship encourages everyone to use their gifts and talents to further the work of the kingdom here in Hibbing as well as in the greater world.

"Christian stewardship is at the heart of our response in faith to God’s call and claim.  We own nothing.  Everything belongs to God.  God is the giver of gifts.  He has given the Earth, people and God’s own self, the Son.  We are managers and stewards and live to give to others."  Pastor Weissenbuehler of the Lutheran.

We are always encouraged when someone volunteers to use their gifts and talents in the numerous ministries of the church.  The stewardship committee would welcome your input and would be pleased to have you join them.

Outreach emphasizes evangelism.

Our goal is to educate the congregation that we are ALL a part of the call to invite others to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to invite others to come to the house of worship here at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Hibbing .  Also, our goal is to help visitors and new members feel welcome as they come to worship at Our Savior’s.  We also reach out to the community through the weekly broadcast of our worship service on the radio and community television.  We encourage other committees and groups at Our Savior’ s to publicize their activities and to invite others.   The committee meets on the second Thursday of the month at 4:45 p.m.  We welcome anyone that would like to be a part of the great commission
